A friend of Teyla, he was visited by Teyla and Sheppard who came to warn him and his people that the Wraith were on their way to the planet. Despite Sheppard's orders, Teyla promised Orin and his family that they would come back for him and his family and save him.

When the Wraith finally came, Orin, his family and a few others were rescued by Teyla who took them back to Atlantis after the Wraith had gone.
