A hippy, Michael along with his wife Jenny encountered SG1 when they had travelled back in time to 1969. They had been travelling across the country for Woodstock up in the North East before he was to be sent to Vietnam for the war. Although, Michael and Jenny intended on dodging enlisting by going to Canada.
When they met SG1 they gave them a ride as far as they needed, and eventually believed them to be aliens and agreed to take them to New York.
