These are short-range drop crafts which are remote controllable. They are 16 feet wide by 10 feet long and capable of transporting up to five individuals. The ship was used by Martin and his Friends to get to Earth after putting their ship in orbit around Mars in a way that Earth couldn't detect it.
Each Pod also has an auto-destruct which can be activated remotely, and once activated leaves a small crater in the position of the ship.
The escape pod that Martin came in, was destroyed soon after it was found when Martin accidentally activated the remote detonation device.
