The Madronans are a peaceful people that are protected from the harsh weather on their planet by a device known as the touchstone. The device gives them good whether all year round, without which, their planet would turn into a desolate ice desert.
When the touchstone went missing, the Madronans blamed the SGC as it was the rogue NID that stole the device, but thanks to SG1 who recovered the device the relations between the two worlds didn't break.
