History

Earth, also known as Terra, is the home planet of the Tau'ri. This is the first known planet on which life evolved, starting with the Ancients, and then the Tau'ri themselves. The Planet was once ruled by the Goa'uld Ra and home to the other Goa'ulds who used the Stargate to transport the humans of the world to other planets. Over 5000 years ago, when Ra still ruled the planet, an up-rising occurred, and Ra fled to Abydos burying the Stargate. In 1928 during a dig in Giza, the Stargate was uncovered, but it wasn't until the 90's that they discovered how to use the Stargate and travelled to many planets. Since the the Earth has been under attack many times, each time, Earth's Flagship team, SG1 has saved it.
