SG-1 coming thorough the gate with Daniel having been exposed to a deadly dose of radiation, the world they were on, Callonia is a world of the technological stage of 1940s America. They are at war with their neighbours and are looking for weapons to defend themselves. They found an Ancient Goa'uld temple and a new liquid form of Naquadah - Naquadria - which they are experimenting with. However, when the experiments they are doing go wrong, Daniel saves them however the people of Collonia blame him for causing the accident and will not accept the truth that he saved them. In the meantime, Daniel is getting worse, there is nothing Dr Fraiser can do for him and they can't get hold of what's left of the Tokr'a or the Asgard. Sam tries to use the Goa'uld healing device on him but makes it worse. Daniel is dying a very painful death. He drifts in and out of conciousness and sees Oma Desala an Ascended being whom he has met previously in the temple at Kheb. She offers him a chance to ascend however to do so he must leave his physical body behind, in essence he has to die. Meanwhile the true story comes out of Daniel's heroism thanks to Jonas Quin who was the ethical advisor to the High Minister on Callonia who tells the truth, how Daniel warned them of the dangers of using Naquadria, how it blew up the Goa'uld 10,000 ago who was experimenting with it and how he was the only one brave enough to turn off the reaction when the experiment went wrong, at the cost of his life. Trouble is all his superiors can see is that the Naquadria makes a truly spectacular bomb! So Jonas comes to Earth with some Naquadria he stole as Jack had told him how the Sam believe the Naquadria can be used to create defence shields and space travel and he's disgusted with his leaders, and wants SGC to give him the defence technology to take back to his world when it's developed. Jacob comes through the gate and tries to save Daniel with the healing device although he doesn't think he can cure him completely, and then Daniel has to make the decision, go with Oma Desala via Ascension or live life on Earth.

Daniel: Why do you care?
O'Neill: Because despite the fact that you've been a terrific pain in the ass for the last five years I may have...might have grown to admire you a little, I think
