Synopsis

Plot

Whilst manually shutting down power consumption in the city after the Ancients had activated all the devices whilst briefly in the city, McKay and Sheppard come a cross an ancient device. Whilst trying to shut it down, McKay accidental activates it, causing his mind to evolve to the point where he has the possibility to Ascend. Oblivious to his powers at first, McKay quickly realises that he has the powers of the ancients as well as the ability to grasp things that the others could not. Whilst using his newly gained knowledge of the ancient systems, McKay begins remotely deactivating the labs, lowering the power consumption, all from the chair room, however in the process Zalenka is seriously injured when a power surge hits him. McKay quickly comes to the infirmary after learning what happens, and displays the healing powers of the ancients, saving Zalenka. Upon learning that he does not have much time to live, as rather than ascension, when he reaches the point required for ascending, his brain functions will cease and die, McKay begins to panic and asks for Sheppards help in helping him reach the mental state required to Ascend.
