Daniel Jackson and Teal'c return to Abydos to fulfill a promise Daniel made to Sha're's father, Kasuf. Once there they find Shar're, and she's not only pregnant, she's very near to giving birth, for the time being the Goa'uld within her is dormant and she is the Sha're Daniel loves. Back on Earth Sam and Jack are to get medals from the President but Jack has problems with a reporter and Sam discovers some disturbing news about her father. On Abydos, Sha're is about to give birth, however, when before she can Heru'urs' forces come to find the baby and use its knowledge to kill Apophis. However, Teal'c manages to save the baby from them, but as soon as the baby is born Sha'res' Goa'uld takes over. As they try to escape through the Stargate, Apophis appears and Sha're tells him that it was Heru'ur that took the baby, but as they leave she sees Teal'c and Daniel however she does not reveal their positions.

Carter: Good thing you remembered the shield's deflection capability's directly proportional to the amount of kinetic energy directed at it.
Selig: Look, I've got all I need. I don't need you, but I've got to admit I wanted to meet you anyway. When this breaks, you're going to be a hero.
O'Neill: Cool. So what're you going to say about me?
Teal'c: Daniel Jackson assures me the Abydonians are a peaceful people
O'Neill: They're a great people, are you kidding? (To Carter) In fact, what do you say you and I blow off this medal ceremony thing and go with the boys?
Jack to the reporter
O'Neill: Alright... if you're gonna go ahead with it, I wanna make sure you get one thing right. It's O'Neill, with 2 L's. There's another Colonel O'Neil with only one L - he has no sense of humour at all
O'Neill: Somebody explain to me what just happened
Teal'c: It is a lengthy tale, O'Neill
O'Neill: Long story', Teal'c
