Synopsis
Plot
Whilst doing standard recon on a planet thought to have been destroyed by the Wraith, the team find an Ancient structure standing intact among the ruins of the civilisation. After some investigating, they discover the monolith was a research base, where the Ancients worked to develop an advanced method of harnessing energy. They soon discover that the research was what caused the destruction of the inhabitants. During McKay's first try at perfecting the energy source results in the death of one of the scientists, however McKay is determined to finish the project putting himself and the others in jeopardy. In the meantime, Ronon Dex discovers that his former military trainer survived the Wraith attack on his homeplanet.
