Commander of SG-9, Benton had once been sent on a mission to Latona in an attempt to reopen negotiations after the Rogue NID had paid the planet a visit. Whilst on the planet, it was attacked by the Goa'uld Svarog. He was shot down by a Jaffa whilst trying to retreat to the Stargate.
