History
The Alpha Site serves two purposes, it is used as a second off world base, and in the event that the Earth comes under attack, the best and brightest are sent to the Alpha Site to start over in case the Earth is destroyed. The Alpha Site was not known to any Goa'uld, and any Jaffa or Tok'ra that wished it, were welcome at the base. However, when Jonas Quinn was captured by Anubis and his mind probed, the location of the planet was revealed, and the Alpha Site had to be change to protect those on the base.
