A Russian archaeologist and expert on ancient Mesoptamia, Alexander Britski was assigned to the Russian team which was sent to P2X-338 in order to find the Eye of Tiamat.

Whilst on the mission, Britski kept a journal which was later recovered by SG-1 and another Russian team who had been sent to recover the team. After the death of two other team members, Britski ended his life, making the note "I'm all alone now. There is no escape. Only one course of action remains" in the journal, before consuming a cyanide pill to a quick death.

His body was later devoured by a creature also found in the tomb.
