Doctor Abrams was one of the origional Atlantis Expedition members, he went on a mission to check out an Ancient satellite, along side Major Sheppard, Dr McKay and Dr Brendan Gall, however when they picked up a Wraith distress beacon, they went to investigate.
They found a downed Wraith Hive Ship, with only one occupant who awoke from his sleep as they approached. Abrams was one of the first that the Wraith fed upon, once awake.
