Wanting to free the Athosians and the others, Major Sheppard, goes to the Wraith planet using an Ancient Shuttle pod, nicknamed the Puddle Jumper.

Once on the Wraith hive ship, he finds that they have taken Sumner, and when he follows, he sees the Wraith sucking the life out of him, and to save him the pain, Sheppard shoots the Wraith and Sumner. He is quickly caught, and taken to see the female Wraith who seems to have regenerated from her wound. With the help of Ford, they are able to kill the female wraith and escape, however as they kill her, the sleeping Wraith start waking up all over the hive ship.

Back at Atlantis they mourne over the death of Sumner, but joy over the new found friendship of the Athosians.
