With the Ori quickly wiping out planets, the SGC, namely Samantha Carter work on a way to hide the entire planet from the Ori using Merlins device which shifts anyone within the field into a different dimension.

Coming back from a successful test of the weapon, SG1 learn about a planet which is under the threat of Ori, having rejected Origin, the Ori would return in three days and wipe them out. Taking the device to the planet, Samantha Carter manages to successfully shifts the village onto a different dimension, however the device soon stops working.

Unable to solve the problem in time, the Ori arrive and start sending ground troops. Unable to activate the device in time, Samantha Carter is injured by a blast from an ori weapon, but is fortunately saved by Mitchell who follows her instructions and activates the device shifting them both, and building they were in, out of phase.

In the meantime, Vala and the other villages are quickly caught, but before the Ori Soldier can kill Vala, Tomin arrives sending her to the Ori Ship, but not before killing many of the villagers before her eyes. Many of the remaining villagers out of fear of the Ori, start to accept Origin, however Teal'c tries to get them to keep their faith and not bend to the wishes of the Ori.

Knowing that a building vanished before their eyes, they soon learn what has happened, and give the villagers a choice, either get Samantha and Mitchell to reveal themselves or the village would be destroyed. Fortunately, when their time comes, Mitchell manages to expand the devices's field around the village saving it and the inhabitants.

In the meantime, Vala who was taken to the ship, manages to get through to Tomin who helps her escape, putting his life on the line.
