You can win the chance to dine with one of the stars from Stargate from Ebay, all proceeds of which go to charity. The auctions have just opened, and the things to bid on range from show memorabilia right down to dinner. The chairty this is all for is for Babz Chula, a cause which you can read more about here.
Stars for the event are coming from Battlestar Galactica, Corner Gas, Intelligence, Men In Trees, Prison Break, and The X-Files as well! To read the letter sent out, check out the source below.
Since the end of the Stargate SG-1 TV series, many fans have been avidly waiting for the release of the first of two movies which are to come out to complete the Ori storyline where it ended with the show. Coming now on March 11th for those living in North America, and exclusively on DVD, The Ark of Truth will be the first of the two movies to come out and the second movie in the entire series, after the first movie kick started the series back in '94. The movie is expected to be about 97 minutes long, over twice the length of a normal sitting of Stargate!
For those in Canada, a 48 dollar price tag is on it, but for those living in America, you have it lucky; 27 dollars for you guys. At this time, SciFi has not mentioned if they are going to air the show.
A recent release to GateWorld, a bit of concept art has been sent out, giving us a first time look at how the Ancient homeworld is going to look in Stargate Worlds. This Ancient World is a lot more alien, however, than previous shows of Ancient Worlds. When compared to the Water covered region of Atlantis, the Earth-like forests of some cities and the Arctic location of the Ancient outpost, the odd weather patterns, the purple ground and the distinctly sloping buildings are slightly different from the blue spires we have come to assosiate with Ancients, as well as the human-like conditions they tend to live in.
This is breaking many of the molds of what we know of the Alteran people. You can check out the image here.
This year, Stargate came away with a number of awards from SyFy Portal's awards this year, many of them character related. As well as those character related ones awarded, the online series "Sanctuary", which Stargate actress Amanda Tapping is involved in, won the first ever award for Best Web Production.
Others on the list included Amanda Tapping, winning best Actress in a television series, Richard Dean Anderson, winning Best Special Guest award for his appearance in the "200" (just 100 short of a corny 300 joke) episode, and Joe Flanigan managing to grab himself the Best Actor award for his work with Stargate Atlantis. A massive congratulations for all of the folks from Stargate who won an award, as well for those who won awards from other popular series today such as Doctor Who and Heroes! For more information, check out our source here! Also, see the movie below for a complete listing of who won what.

Ten seasons ago, the Stargate network was rediscovered after the long-dormant Alien device remained quiet since it's previous use by the Air Force, and before then, not since Ancient Egyptian times. It was a move forward which would forever change the way people would look at explorations, other species and morals inside the show and outside, it redefined part of the Sci-Fi genre, much like the other giants, Star Trek and Star Wars, redefined theirs.
Today, Stargate takes the leap off the air after ten seasons, breaking records, moving to movies, continuing with a massively popular spin-off and possibly a new series if the rumours are anything to be believed. Some of the stars of the show, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, and Michael Shanks, had an interview which is now up on The SciFi Network's website, where they look back at the past 10 years of going through the gate. A little bit of a look, is Carter mentioning the differences between her last shows on Stargate and her shift over to Atlantis. "SG-1 is a bit more irreverent. SG-1 has certain sense of humor to it. Even though we're stuck on Earth on a military base, in a way we're more accessible, because we're present-day human beings on Earth, whereas Atlantis has a bit more otherworldly feel to it, and the show is a bit darker in a lot of ways. It still has an amazing sense of humor because of the nature of the characters on it—they all have a sense of humor. But it's a lot different. I don't think it's as self-deprecatingly funny as SG-1 was." For the entire article, which is a must-see for all fans, feel free to hit the source here! By Mishtram

With more than a month left till Season 10 starts on Sci-Fi in the US, today marked the end of Season 10 in the UK. A thrilling and heart-thumping season and series finale saw Stargate SG1 finish with a bang, and for those of you that have to wait, you can read the synopsis of the episode here very soon.
What we at the Stargate Portal want to know is what do you think about SG1 ending? Is it the end of something that lasted too long in the first place? Or is it simply the end of an era of memories and good television? Or do you (like myself) believe that it is simply the beginning of something new and possibly even better. What ever you choose a new poll has been added on the right and be sure to cast your vote.
Amanda Tapping is now officially confirmed to be making several appearances in the upcoming fourth season of Stargate Atlantis, totaling 14 times out of the 20 episodes to be aired.
"Taking the torch from SG-1 as television’s most thrilling adventure series, Atlantis, slated to begin production in Vancouver next month, promises to up the ante this season by introducing a powerful new race, welcoming new cast members and mourning the loss of some beloved friends," said Sci-Fi. "For ten seasons, Tapping starred on Stargate SG-1 as the intelligent and beautiful Samantha Carter. Her combination of Gate expertise, in-depth scientific knowledge and military training made her a critical member of SG-1. She will need to draw upon all these resources as she assumes her new role on Atlantis." The news that Samantha Carter was going to be making a few appearances within the Atlantis universe has been widely speculated and hoped for, and has been a long time in coming. By Mishtram

MGM has agreed to make two new Stargate films called Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum
Below are the synopses for the new Stargate movies: “Stargate: The Ark of Truth” As SG-1 searches for an Ancient artifact which they hope can defeat the armies of the Ori, they learn more Ori ships are about to be sent through the supergate to launch a final assault on Earth. Daniel discovers that the artifact, the Ark of Truth, may be in the Ori home galaxy, and SG-1 embarks aboard the Odyssey to find it, and pre-empt the attack. The IOA has a plan of their own and SG-1 ends up in a distant galaxy fighting two powerful enemies. “Stargate: Continuum” While SG-1 attends the execution of Ba’al, the last of the goa’uld system lords, Teal’c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities what’s happened, a fleet of goa’uld motherships arrives in orbit, led by Ba’al, his queen, Katesh, (Vala) and his first prime, Teal’c. SG-1 must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the goa’uld. By N1

In just under an hour, UK fans will be happy to know that the tenth season of Stargate SG1 which is currently on hiatus in the US will be continuing with "The Quest". Like every year the first half of the show is shown in the US and the second half is continued in the UK on Sky One due to the shorter time between the first and second halfs. US fans will be able to see "The Quest" when the series airs in March/April.

In a recent interview with IGN, Michael Shanks, who plays Daniel Jackson on Stargate SG1, gave details of the fourth coming two Stargate Films.
The first of the two films which is to begin filming on 15th April 2007, will be written & directed by Robert C. Cooper and "has to do with wrapping up the Ori storyline, which is the storyline that has taken prominence for the last two years of the show", however it is yet unknown whether "he is going to wrap it up completely or bring it to some conclusion for the sake of the fans and the franchise, to bring that epic struggle to a close…". However, what ever the closure of the film, we can be sure that another stargate spin off is not far away. The second film will begin filming on 1st June 2007, will be written by Brad Wright, & directed by Martin Wood. Unlike the first film, the second film will be a stand alone film which will see "some kind of time travel" with Baal "doing something in the past that alters…he basically finds a way to lift the Stargate from Earth so the Stargate Program never happens, and the characters will have to go through some process to reset the clock and fix everything". Stay tuned to the Stargate Portal, as more information of the film is brought to you. By Krunal

The third series of Stargate is now in development, however don't get your hopes up as although the series is very well in development, it wont be hitting your TV screens until 2008 or possibly later.
With the end of Stargate SG1, this is welcome news to Stargate fans, who have tried to get Stargate SG1 renewed for an eleventh season to no avail. With no time for a 2007 release, the show currently in the concept phase should enter the filming stage next year. Stay tuned to the Stargate Portal for more information on the new show. [ SOURCE ]

The Stargate Community site has opened up the radio station for the fans of the series. This new creation to the site will, hopefully, create a stronger MMORPG community around the game, while at the same time allowing fans to stay as up to date with new happenings for the game as possible.
Aizen Myoo, from Radio Beta Productions, had the following to say: "The most important part of an MMORPG is the community that builds up around it. This new radio station is for the Star Gate Worlds community giving them a new venue to express themselves with online discussion shows. "To further the goal of truly being apart of the community, we will be hosting a competition during our first show in which you can submit names for the station itself. More details coming up on first show.
The Stargate Worlds team have put up five new screenshots in our Gallery, showing off a new desert-like vista. It isn't much of a leap, from the decoration, to guess that we're getting some of our first glimpses at the Gou'ald areas within the game. Click the thumbnails below to see the full size images:
Gateworld recently have the chance for an interview with the actor who played Baul, Cliff Simon, one of the longest running fiends to grace Stargate: SG-1, now beating out both Apophis and Anubis with his massive five year run.
Within the interview, Gateworld speaks to Simon about Stargate's cancellation, a common topic, and the upcoming ending episode, which Simon should be getting the script to soon. A short snippet from the interview below, with the rest available from the source: GW: Word of SG-1's cancellation has now had a chance to fully run its course through fandom. Was it a surprise to you? CS Not really. I had a feeling it was going to happen. And then officially I knew on Monday when it came out in the trades in LA. My agent called me and said "Well, it's now official. They're canceling the show." I'm looking at it as I didn't see the show stopping. SCI FI's canceling the show. And that's what they should've worded it as. There's a lot more places it can go, and I have a feeling it's going to. That's my opinion. I had a brief word with Michael [Shanks] now. I just bumped into him. And they've got the same feeling on set. So I think it's going to go somewhere else. GW: You said you've received your final script. What can you tell us about it? CS No, actually I haven't received it. I don't even know what the name of it is yet. I'll probably get it this week, when I get back. By Mishtram

Amanda Tapping might not be finishing off with SG-1, and might be transferred to Atlantis for the upcoming season four. Due to being obligated to finish off another year with the franchise, you might be seeing Tapping make a few more jumps through the gate before the season is over.
Tapping might also be taking part in a new Science Fiction series, and indeed, be producing it, but further details on what the series is about or her role in it have yet to be announced. "I am contractually obligated to the franchise for a year. I knew at the beginning of Season Ten that it was a possibility that if SG-1 went down that I might be doing some Atlantis," Tapping told GateWorld in an interview. "They exercised that option, which is fine. "I think that this is a potential for a bit of fun. More than Carter and McKay. I think that this is a potential for a lot of fun." Hopefully, this means that we might be seeing more integration of some of the older SG-1 characteristics into the newer, Atlantis series. By Mishtram

Rumours have been abound lately, when Stargate SG-1 was reintroduced into the Friday Night Mix for SciFi. Apparently, the removal of Stargate from the mix lead to a drop in the ratings for Atlantis, SG-1 and Battlestar Gallactica. Due to a comment by Ausiello, as seen below:
Question: Battlestar scoop?— Sam Ausiello: Rumor has it that something big is brewing behind the scenes that could go a long way in boosting the show’s ailing Nielsen’s. It concerns the show’s time slot. it looks like Battlestar Gallactica might be moved to 10 PM, or even to Wednesday night. This would leave the old spot owned by Stargate SG-1 before they killed the line-up. While this is all currently speculation, many fans have had a burst of hope out of this. By Mishtram

The story for the movie reads: If you've never been good at anything in your life, why would murder be any different? A Dog's Breakfast is a head smacking, bone breaking, fiancé bashing romp, about a family that just loves themselves to pieces. Patrick has always had a somewhat combative relationship with his little sister Marilyn. But when she brings home her new TV star fiancé Ryan, it's all out war. When Patrick fails to drive a wedge between the happy couple, he reaches for sharper instruments. Every family has a few skeletons in the closet; A Dog's Breakfast is the nightmarishly funny mess Patrick makes when he tries to add another to his. However, just knowing that good old McKay will be in it, is reason enough for us to watch this film. A forum for the film will be created shortly, where you will be able to discuss this film. Eclipse Magazine recently had an interview with Stargate Producer Joe Mallozzi, to give us a view from that side of the fence on the Stargate series, on such topics as the cancellation of the series by The Sci Fi Channel, both when they dropped by the studio, and later on, when they contacted him via email to finish off the interview.
Much of his experiences are also involved within, from his first day on his set, to his rather short reaction to Stargate nailing the 200th record breaking landmark. "Holy Crap!" Also, a few bits of information on the upcoming movies. Definitely a worth while read, including the snippet below: EM: Right after the airing of the 200th episode, it was announced by The Sci-Fi Channel that they were canceling Stargate: SG-1 at the end of season 10. Knowing that this may be the last season of the show unless efforts by fans and MGM to keep it going prove successful, what do you think is the most valuable thing you've gained from being a part of Stargate:SG-1 over all? JM: As in every production I've worked on, it's the friendships you make over the course of a show's run that prove the most valuable accomplishment. Years from now, once Stargate has run its course for good and we've all gone our separate ways, I hope to still be going out to dinner with Rob Cooper and Martin Gero, testing my ice cream recipes on Carl Binder, and cleaning out Chris Judge on poker night. EM: The news of the cancellation had hit fans hard. What has it been like on the set as filming for the final episode wound down and what do you feel about The Sci-Fi Channel’s decision to cancel Stargate: SG-1 after ten seasons? JM: Well, a lot of people involved in the production are reflecting back on SG-1's ten year run with pride. Given all the show has accomplished, some find it hard to be upset by the fact that it's come to and end. Hey, it had to end sometime, right? We filmed the final episode the other day. Rob Cooper was directing and arranged for the final shot to be a "team shot". They wrapped at about 1:30 a.m. and it was a very emotional time. Apparently, a number of people involved in the production had their own impromptu wrap party. Alas, being the bitter, resentful individual I am, I have a harder time taking the high road. If the show had been creatively tapped out, I would have been more than happy to move on. But the truth is, we've done some of our best writing in the show's 10th season and it's a shame to see it come to what I feel is a premature end. By Mishtram

"They're not big-budget [films] by any definition, but for us it's pretty good," Wright told TV Guide. "As we've proven over the years, just give us little more money and we can make pretty good television, or DVDs."
That's right, MGM has approved the creation of two further bits for the Stargate universe, both movies! While rumours have been bouncing around for some time now, since the cancellation of the Stargate series by SciFi, skeptism has soon followed. However, it now seems that these rumours were true, and that, if Stargate does go out, it's going to go out with a bang. The movies will be based of the current Ori storyline, tying up some of the remaining lose ends that will be around at the end of the season. For the first one, the script will be made by Robert C. Cooper, as well as be directed by him. Wright will be writing the script for the second Stargate movie. That one has been rumoured to involve time travel. Rumours have not been confirmed as to whether or not a third Stargate series will be coming out anytime soon, although this announcement, coupled by the desire of the producers to do so, may lead to the creation of that series. In any case, expect to see the movies out, hopefully, about this time next year! By Mishtram

Gateworld was lucky enough to get an interview with Narim, the character who played as a Tollan interested romantically in the now-Colonel Samantha Carter. Garwin Sanford also managed to make an appearance as Weir's significant other in Atlantis as well, and speaks to Gateworld about Narim's death, and perhaps plans from the creators of Stargate to bring the characters back.
Some interesting bits and pieces: GW: It's been almost five years since we've last seen him. Is he dead? Is Narim dead, you think? Or do you hold out hope? GS: I would love to do more of these. Again, working with Amanda. And the Kang. Christopher Judge. Him and I go back to a series called Booker with Richard Grieco. They had offered me a regular role to start. I wasn't sure about the series, so I said "We don't know what it is yet. Why don't we do a couple of episodes and see what we can come up with." And then they changed producers and they said "Well we have to do another one." New producers. It happened two or three times. I'd finally done about six or seven episodes as one of the investigator-kind of guys at this place. Anyway, he was in that also. So I loved working with Christopher. I loved working with Ricky. The gang is just fun. But most of my stuff was always with Amanda, of course. That's hard to take. [Laughter] It was just really fun. I love her as an actor. It's great. And I'd love to do more. There'd been rumors. They actually talked to me at the party for the 100th episode about what they thought they were going to do with him, and then they must've changed their mind because it didn't come to being. --- GW: Last question, real quick. If you're done with Stargate, what do you want fans to remember about your performances on the show? If you never go back -- which is unlikely. GS: [Laughter] Yeah, that I was in love with Sam. [Laughter] GW: Well, aren't we all? GS: No kidding! No! Basically that's it. I often wanted them to -- in the last episode, he pops in and takes her and rides off into the sunset. By Mishtram

The Season 9 DVD has recieved one of it's first reviews, giving it a solid recommendation to anyone interested in the series, and possibly those who have not yet watched Stargate: SG-1. For those of you that may not remember, the ninth season began when we meet up again with Vala Mal Doran, a person who could more-or-less be described as a bandit or thief in the galaxy, where we eventually see take the steps through the Stargate with SG-1, searching for ancient treasures, eventually encountering an offshoot race of the Ancients, called the Orii. These less than hospitable people seek to bring Earth's galaxy into the fold, eventually starting a war with the advanced races in this galaxy, seeking complete conquest.
Once again, they remark on the new standard slim cases, now used instead of the older, box versions employed several months earlier. Included in the DVDs is a series of featurettes which are supposed to be informative and entertaining, with 872 minutes of material overall. For those interested in buying the DVDs, they go for about 35 dollars on Amazon at the moment.
Some very interesting changes have hit the Stargate community. This site is like a Stargate myspace, allowing members to create there own profiles, with official video footage, avatars, and imagry available when you sign up. What's also interesting, indeed, when you sign up, is that they also have a "Save Stargate" button, and a space for season eleven. What's not to love?
Note that the site is still in Beta, and may take a while for everything to work correctly, or for it to be completed fully. They ask that if you notice anything wrong, like bugs, then you should contact them and report it. Definitely looks to be worth seeing.

Stargate fans will be overjoyed to know that the ratings for the end of summer, September 22nd, actually rose from the first episode of the season by 21%, and beat out it's predecessor by 2 tenths of the average household rating, ending with one that is 1.7.
Also, reruns have gone up a bit, with ratings rising to .8 for SG-1 and 1.0 for Atlantis, a .1 increase from the previous week. Good news for Stargate!
General George Hammond commanded the SGC for years in the TV show, eventually leaving the job to move onto a newer and higher role in the military. The actor who played him has just shown something he himself moved onto, showing his art on a new page, http://www.donsdavisart.com. On it is everything from carvings to paintings, and is definitely worth taking a look.
A little he gives from the main page. I was born and raised in the Missouri Ozarks in Aurora, Missouri, a town located in the southwestern part of the state. It’s a beautiful area with picturesque towns and farms set among rolling hills, which are crisscrossed by many rivers and contain a large number of magnificent lakes. These rivers and lakes offer some of the finest fishing and boating in all of North America. Those areas of the countryside not cleared for farmland are covered with an amazing variety of trees and other vegetation, which are filled with an almost unbelievable abundance of indigenous animals and birds. The towns and farmsteads contain wonderful old homes, barns and other buildings that provide nearly limitless opportunities for artistic inspiration. I try to create drawings, paintings, carvings and other sculptural creations that embody my love for the environment and view of life that I was so fortunate to have grown up with. MGM might be picking up their own TV channel soon, the first movement that MGM has made into that level of control on TV production in several years. From reading this article, it has become apparent that MGM Studio's plans to get a few movies out as it's primary objective, however, Stargate SG-1 was also mentioned in the article, and may be coming back soon for our viewing pleasure.
This means that MGM will have control of the renewing of the hit TV series themselves, giving more control over the development of the show, and future seasons of it as well. All we can hope is that this goes through smoothly. Some key bits of the article below: "We want to control our own destiny in television distribution," Sands said. "There is so much upside to the expansion of cable and satellite, the growth of video-on-demand, and the fact that telephone companies are spending tens of billions of dollars to get programming into people's homes." The international marketplace for TV series is humming, said Sands. Two of the key series in the MGM catalogue for foreign sale are "The L Word," which Showtime has picked up for a fourth season, and "Stargate SG-1," which racked up more than 200 episodes before the Sci Fi Channel canceled it last month. Exclipse Magazine has had an interview with Gary Jones, better known as the now famous character, Walter, the man who has sat behind the iris and gate controls in Stargate Command for most of the series running time.
In it, Gary Jones speaks about the end of Stargate, what he thinks it means, and what could happen because of the ending of it, along with a bit where he says that he hopes to see his character take the actual walk through the Stargate. Much of the article has tons of insight, so I'd check out the source below! A little bit from it is quoted here: Were people anticipating that this year might be SG-1's last? "You know what, honestly? I think they think that every year," he says with candour. "Obviously, to end it after ten years is a nice round number. 'Seinfeld' was on for nine and I just read that 'Will and Grace' was on for eight, so ten is unbelievable and forget just sci-fi, in the land of TV it's unbelievable that they went that long." There have been numerous rumours about 'SG-1' continuing in some form, with MGM retaining considerable faith in the franchise. Jones agrees. "MGM still thinks that it's a worthy show, so I think now they have two routes to go - to either try to find another broadcaster to continue the series or they would make TV movies or possibly a feature." It looks like Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis have walked away from this years SyFy awards with nothing of value to claim. While hitting it off on several awards shows over the past few years, Stargate did not manage to beat out the award sweeping Serenity and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for the first spot in any of the categories, joining other recent SyFy shows like Battlestar Gallactica, which, while popular, netted nothing.
The series did manage several runner-ups, as shown below: BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS/Television RUNNERS-UP: Rachel Luttrell, "Stargate: Atlantis" and Katee Sackhoff, "Battlestar Galactica" BEST SPECIAL GUEST/Television RUNNER-UP: Claudia Black, "Avalon, Part 1," Stargate SG-1 By Mishtram

Yesterday, the folks over at The Gateroom got the chance to speak with Kavan Smith, more commonly known as Major Lorne in the popular Stargate series, where they talk about where the character might go next, Smith's heavy connections to Sci-Fi hits like The 4400 and Battlestar Galactica, and several bits of more general personal questions to the actor.
Also included is a short bit on names, where we learn that Major Lorne's first name may actually be Evan, and that is middle name means Joel, or, as his grandfather puts it, "Jackass". [TG] Where can you see Major Lorne heading in the future? [KS] Never really sure. The options are so vast. That’s the thing with sci-fi, the possibilities are limitless. I hope they allow his sense of humor to develop a bit more. I obviously I hope they include him more in major plot ideas. But in all honesty I have no idea. [TG] With Major Lorne's return to Stargate, both you and he have developed quite a fan following (especially on Gateworld.net and LiveJournal.com). Is that surprising? Did you ever think that you'd develop a major fanbase? [KS] I really had no idea that this following even existed until I was talked into attending Dragon Con ’06. That was an eye opener. But I wish that everyone had people telling him or her they loved what he or she did. It feels wonderful. Makes me smile every time. By Mishtram

Ten Ton Hammer recently sat down with Joe Ybarra, a somewhat well known person in the MMORPG industry, having worked on such projects as Uru: Ages Beyond Myst and The Matrix Online. In this interview, they speak about Stargate: Worlds, working with franchises, and some game related material.
Ybarra reveals that you will be working in environments similar to the SG teams that came out of Cheyenne Mountain during the show, with a more intimate number of four as a maximum per group, or squad. He then goes on to describe that bringing these together makes platoons, and say that the one thing that this game needs a robust team and battle system to support it. Also, this is one of those games where your first tank might not be your character forever. Ybarra mentions that the team plans to add new content on a curve, so you might come back a few months later with a newer character and find new content at lower levels that, before, did not exist. What about that 1 to 20 level grind? Companies are designing for end game. So the earlier levels are nothing but hours of grinding pain. What do you plan to do to make that different? "I think that it should be more even. Because we have a really interesting opportunity here to tell stories that are REALLY different. For example if you play a Goa'uld, your experience is going to be different than if you play an Asgaard or even if you play an SG-1 team member. We want players to be personified by their characters. We also want them to say "Gee wouldn't it be interesting if I got to play this other type."
FiringSquad had the luck to interview Chris Bernert, one of the people working on the much anticipated Stargate MMORPG, Stargate: Worlds. Inside the interview, FS asks questions about the Unreal Engine, the effects of the show's cancellation on the series, and when the game is supposed to be ready for us to buy off the shelves. Below is some new information that has not been on the Stargate Neoportal before:
FiringSquad:What other gameplay elements from Stargate Worlds will make it different from the crowd of MMORPGs on the market? Chris Bernert: We have a few tricks up our sleeves that showcase non combat gameplay. We want to capture the moments in the show where the main characters have to solve a puzzle or riddle or fix the ship's power array. These actions are engaging as well as key to progressing through some missions. We also have a diplomatic system prototyped that allows players to interact with certain hostiles and defeat them without pulling out a gun. It’s pretty cool stuff. FiringSquad:What is the current status of the game's progress and when will it be released? Chris Bernert: We are wrapping up preproduction and look to begin full production soon. As for release, we’ll release when the game is ready. FiringSquad:Finally is there anything else you wish to say about Stargate Worlds? Chris Bernert: Stargate Worlds has a fantastic team of very talented people working on it. These people know their stuff so it’s an exciting project to be a part of. If I was a fan of either Stargate or MMOs or both I’d be pretty excited about what we have in store for you.
Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment employee Zeb Cook had an interview recently with Dana "Lepidus" Massey of MMORPG.com, at the Austin Game Conference, where they spoke about production of the Stargate MMO soon to come out, Stargate: Worlds.
In it, Zeb mentions that they are finally beginning to wind down with the preproduction phase, which has allowed them to concentrate on building up the game's graphics and technologies to a point where game design can begin. However, with the beginning of the prototype, we unfortunately have lost such things as AI companions on the trips, and have gained a little bit, like learning that we will have monsters and such who will take cover, fan out, and perform tactical maneuvers as necessary, something that is a rarity in most MMORPGs, and also that the game will be working less with grinding to make it to higher levels. When asked how the cancellation of the series would effect the game, he responded, “We were always aware that this was a possibility,” he noted. “[The cancellation] doesn’t change much.” Luckily for us, Stargate and it's liscences have thus far not provided any problems, with MGM entertainment tossing it's support behind the project with no problems. Not a bump in the road yet.
For those fans who can't wait to get their hands on a copy of the ninth season of Stargate: SG-1 on DVD, here is your chance. TheManRoom has started up a contest to win one of these, with those that don't win having to pick up the DVD for money when it hits shelves everywhere on October the third.

Some of the older Stargate fans may remember when the Stargate Neoportal reported the cancellation of the Stargate shooter Alliance. Originally being developed by Perception, the producer of the time, JoWood, decided that, due to game quality, production of it must end. This in turn lead to several legal battles over who owned rights over Stargate Atlantis.
Recently, however, rumours have come back up that Stargate Alliance might be back in play. An article by WorthPlaying indicates that, with news coming up in November about the series, that Stargate may not be so finished. This new developer that we don't know about has supposedly been confirmed as being truthful by several contacts. It seems that we might be getting Stargate: Alliance into our hands after all! While Simon admits to wanting to move over to Atlantis, and that he knows that fans have been clamouring to get him into the next series, he has debunked the rumour with this comment:
"I think I should clear up any rumours. I have been saying that I would love to go across to Atlantis, now that SG-1 is coming to an end. Little news has come about from the recent cancellation of Stargate: SG-1. At this time, MGM still has no takers to pick up the series, but continues to look around in an effort to do so. There has, however, been speculation that the Stargate series will be moving on in the form of movies, as mentioned in IGN's exclusive visit with the Stargate crew.
Pretty much all the cast members told us that, while nothing's definite yet, it sounds like there will be several Stargate TV movies produced after the series ends. The arrangement sounds similar to when Farscape ended, and plans were announced for several movies to air -- unfortunately only one has aired to date, 2004's Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars. However, nothing is definite. By Mishtram

In our continuing coverage of this topic, new articles have been placed up that mention that Stargate SG-1 might be out of a home on Sci Fi, but that another network might be picking them up, if they can make themselves desirable enough.
Robert C. Cooper has told Gateworld the following: "As far as the future I can't comment yet because nothing has been confirmed," Cooper said. "What we want to emphasize is that the franchise is not dying. SG-1 will go on in some way. We're just not ready to announce how." While some readers might be furious against the choice of SciFi to drop the show, Cooper requests that all fans keep the ratings going strong and not boycott the channel out of spite. So, it looks like Stargate has a future yet, as long as the fans show our support for the show that we've shown for the past few years. Things began looking up when the 200th episode of Stargate rose all the way to 1.9 million viewers, a massive increase that, if even loosely kept, shows hope for the future of the show. By Mishtram
